The joy of being painfree

Friday, May 29th, 2009

When was the last time you were pain free? Do you put up with the pain on a daily basis? Why do you suffer from mechanical aches and pains, when most of them could be sorted out?

Most of us have so many things “to do” everyday, that we forget our self. We put up with the aches that the body gives us, as we are “too busy” or “I will sort it tomorrow” or ” I have no time now “! I am sure you recognize these statements.

But why not SORT IT NOW? You owe it to your body to look after it. It does all it’s daily functions without complaining, so when you get a pain somewhere, it is the body’s was of telling you to “give me a bit of TLC”!

Chiropractic can get rid of most aches in the body in a very short space of time. As a Chiropractor, I deal with back pain, head aches, trapped nerves and sciatica on a daily basis. You name it, I have probably dealt with it over the 17 years I have been in practice.

So give yourself the joy of being PAIN FREE, and discover how GREAT you can feel. Discover how much more you can do on a daily basis, when you do not suffer from aches and pains.

The healing art of CHIROPRACTIC can get rid of aches and pains, without surgery or painkillers. You owe it to your self.

“get out of jail free card”!!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

A is a longstanding patient who has not been in the clinic for the last 2 years. She suddenly called last week and needed an appointment NOW. So we booked her in last Wednesday.

She told me she had been totally free of any aches and pains for the last 2 years. Had been busy with allsorts and had almost forgotten about her neck, shoulder, and headaches she used to have on a regular basis.

Anyways, the headaches had returned with a vengeance, and her neck felt totally locked. “Okay” was my reply, “lets get you back to normality”. So I examined her, explained what had happened, and then treated her neck and upper back. Within 5 minutes, the headache she had suffered with the last 2 weeks had gone. And she left the clinic is a very happy frame of mind.

Later that evening, I received this email from A. And I have to say that my life as a Chiropractor just gets better and better with feedback like this from patients. Thank you, A

Hi Ida,

I’ve just been having a look around your website and thought I’d contact you after reading some of your testimonials.
My comment from our session today was
‘It’s like having a get out of jail free card’, the jail being pain.

Thanks for getting me out of jail again Ida,

Cheers, A

stress and chiropractic

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

In today’s busy world it does not have to be an injury that will put you out of action. STRESS can do it! Yes, that feeling, when you are just about to lose your temper because you have so many things to do. A pain so nasty you have to stop the hectic life and just “be still” for a few days.

Nonsense I can hear you say.”Stress is a mental thing. That does not give me a physical pain”. “YES IT CAN” would be my answer. Any mental stress you may be feeling will aggravate what ever weakness you may have in the skeletal system, hence you get a REAL physical pain.

A real life example:

Mr. C called the office yesterday for an urgent app. He is a school teacher. Over the weekend he had started with some chest pain and pain in the left arm. It became gradually more severe to the point, where his wife called the ambulance sunday afternoon, and off he went to Arrow Park Hospital! They did a complete check on him, and ruled out a heart attack, so he was out of hospital again monday morning. He then called me!

I checked him over and told him his neck and upper back was very tight and tense. Immediately after the treatment, the numbness of his left arm eased off and the chest pain was gone by the time he left the Clinic. Another happy customer!

So, think about how stress can affect you. And do call if you have a pain, you are not sure about. I will be the first one to send you to the GP, if there is ANYTHING I am not sure about.

In the meantime: CHILL and enjoy life.

the benefits of regular maintenence treatment

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Ms 54 year old came in this week. “I am absolutely fine” she tells me, “just did not want to miss my regular MOT check-up”. Well done you, was my answer.

Together we had a look over her file. She came originally in 2001 with a severe pain in the lower back and recurrent headaches. This had been on and off for years.

It took 8 appointments in 2001 and early 2002 to get her pain free. In 2003 she had 3 appointments just to keep a check on the spine. Since 2004 she has come in every 6 month, for what is called an MOT check.

This is an appointment where I can check the whole spine and treat what ever is not in perfect balance. She has stuck to this routine since 2004 and has had NO RECURRANCE of the original pain.

“So even though I feel fine, there is no way I would miss these MOT appointments”. And I can only agree with her. In my experience, the patients who stick to the recommended treatment plan, tend to be pain free for a very long time.

And at the end of the day, what price can you put on being pain free, in good health? Surely that is priceless.

frozen shoulder

Monday, February 9th, 2009

It has nothing to do with the current cold-spell that we are “enjoying.”

It is officially called ADHESIVE CAPSULITIS and is actually very common. It starts as a tightness in the shoulder, when you move your shoulder in a specific direction. It almost like you can do most things with the shoulder, just not this one direction! Sounds familiar?

Chiropractic treatment is really effective for a frozen shoulder, as the condition is often combined with some tightness of the neck itself. So by gently manipulating the neck and doing some specific movement of the shoulder, you can get better quicker. Compared to you just taking anti-inflammatories.

If you recognize your self from this or know someone who is suffering, you can mention Chiropractic to them. You never know, I will probably be able to get them better.

Laptop PC’s and the neck/shoulder

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Do you ever wonder why your neck is killing you after a spate of time on the laptop, where as you can sit at the desk PC for hours? Well the answer is simple. POSTURE.

With the desk PC you should have the screen at eye level, about arms length from you and the keyboard right in front of you at the right height. This kind of set-up combined with a good chair, will ensure you are not putting extra strain on the upper back, hence creating tension in you neck and shoulder.

Now try to get that kind of setup with a laptop PC! Yes, almost impossible! The main thing to remember with laptops are, do not stay on them too long. If you have no other PC setup then get one of these modern laptop cradles, which lift the keyboard up to 45 degrees, thus lifting the screen off the desk. Closer to your eye level.

Any recurrent pain and the neck and shoulders, possibly mixed with a good headache and you have the perfect Chiropractic patient, who would benefit from some treatment.

Go on, stop suffering, sort out your PC and get that appointment booked with the Chiropractor, if you are still suffering. I will be very happy to help you get pain-free again.
